Premium Sport Fishing Charters
& Ocean Adventures

Deep sea fishing, whale watching and snorkeling tours departing steps from the JW Marriott Costa Elena Resort — on the wild Pacific coast of northern Guanacaste.

An Exclusive Pacific Experience

A World-Class Ocean Playground, Right at Your Doorstep

Playa El Jobo sits on a remote, wind-sheltered peninsula in La Cruz, Guanacaste — one of the richest marine corridors in the eastern Pacific. Our independent charter service operates directly in front of the JW Marriott Costa Elena Resort with a fleet of six fully equipped boats — including the Resiliencia (Fountain, twin Yamaha outboards), La Lisa W. (32-ft center console, 220 HP Yamaha, full outrigger spread), Pacifico Azul (30-ft panga, 150 HP Yamaha), the Santa Fe (30-ft sportfisher), the Ryan Lindy (40-ft motor yacht) and La Fragata (28-ft, 300 HP Yamaha). Every vessel in our fleet runs all four tour types: sport fishing, whale watching, snorkeling and sunset cruises.

Whether you are chasing a trophy sailfish offshore, teaching your kids to hook their first roosterfish in the surf line, or drifting over coral reefs looking for manta rays, our bilingual captains and crew have been running these waters for thirty years. Every trip is private. Every detail is handled. All you bring is your sense of adventure.

We are a locally owned Costa Rican operator — licensed, insured, and fully compliant with all maritime and environmental regulations of the Pacific Northwest Zone.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is included in the fishing charter?
All charters include professional fishing equipment (Penn & Shimano rods and reels), live and cut bait, ice, bottled water, sodas, fresh fruit and snacks. Full-day charters also include a hot lunch prepared onboard.
Do I need previous fishing experience?
Not at all. Our captains and mates work with anglers of every level, from first-timers to seasoned tournament fishermen. We will walk you through every technique and handle the heavy lifting so you can focus on the fight.
What is your cancellation policy?
No refunds on deposits. However, cancellations made more than 48 hours in advance can be rescheduled to another date at no extra cost. No-shows forfeit the deposit. Weather cancellations at the captain's discretion are always rescheduled free of charge.
Is it safe for children?
Yes. Our boats carry child-sized life jackets and our crews are experienced with families. Whale watching and inshore fishing are especially kid-friendly; for offshore trips we recommend ages 10 and up.
What should I bring on the trip?
Reef-safe sunscreen, a hat, polarized sunglasses, a light jacket or windbreaker, a camera, and your sense of adventure. Everything else — tackle, bait, gear, food and drinks — we provide.
When is the best season for sport fishing?
Fishing is productive year-round. Sailfish and Marlin peak from May through November. Roosterfish, Yellowfin Tuna, Wahoo and Cubera Snapper are available in every season.
When can I see whales in Guanacaste?
Humpback whales visit the waters off Playa El Jobo from July through October, migrating north from the southern hemisphere to breed and nurse their calves in the warm Pacific. This is the prime window for breaching, tail-slapping and close encounters. Dolphins — bottlenose, spotted and spinner — are present year-round.
How do I get to the boat from the JW Marriott?
Our boats launch directly from Playa El Jobo, a short walk from the JW Marriott Costa Elena Resort. We meet you on the beach — no transfers required. Hotel shuttle and private transport can be arranged on request.
Do you offer private charters?
Every charter we run is private. You book the entire boat and crew — no shared trips, no strangers onboard. It is the only way we operate.
Do you use the same boat for all four tours?
We have a fleet of six different boats and every vessel is fully equipped to run all four tour types — sport fishing, whale watching, snorkeling and sunset cruises. When you book, we assign the best available boat for your date and group size. Our fleet includes the Resiliencia (Fountain, twin Yamaha outboards), La Lisa W. (32-ft center console, 220 HP Yamaha, full outrigger spread), Pacifico Azul (30-ft panga, 150 HP Yamaha), the Santa Fe (30-ft sportfisher), the Ryan Lindy (40-ft motor yacht) and La Fragata (28-ft, 300 HP Yamaha) — fast, stable and built for these Pacific waters.
What payment methods do you accept?
All payments are arranged directly with our team. Contact us and we'll walk you through the process, available methods and any deposit requirements for your specific charter.
